We’re Oliver’s parents — Shane and Jasmine — and we run Never At School. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have.
Who we are
Never At School is a UK-based website created by Oliver’s parents to share stories and tools about children missing education. You can contact us any time at [email protected].
What we collect
Most people can use this site completely anonymously. The only time we collect personal information is when you choose to share it, such as:
- When you submit a story for our council’s waiting list project. We’ll collect your email so we can confirm receipt and contact you if needed.
- The story details you share (for example, your child’s situation). We ask that you don’t include anything that identifies your child or anyone else.
We don’t collect sensitive information unless you write it yourself, and we ask that you don’t.
What we do with it
We only use the information you send to:
- Publish your story (if you choose to share one).
- Contact you about that story, for example if we need to clarify something or ask for clarification.
- Keep a record in case you later want to update or delete it.
We don’t use your email for marketing, and we never share or sell any data to anyone else.
How long we keep it
We keep stories and contact emails for as long as they’re published on the site or until you ask us to delete them. You can do that any time by replying to the confirmation email or contacting [email protected].
Who helps us run the site
To keep the site safe and working properly, we use a few trusted services:
- Postmark – sends the confirmation email when you submit a story.
- Cloudflare – protects the site and helps it load quickly.
- Wordfence – provides extra website security.
- AWS (UK) and RunCloud – where the website is hosted and managed.
These services may temporarily process things like your IP address or browser type, but only so the site can function securely.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see how people use the site. For example, which pages are popular or what devices visitors use. It doesn’t show us who you are.
Cookies
We use cookies which are small text files that help the site remember basic preferences and measure usage. You can read or manage them any time by clicking the cookie icon on the bottom right of any page.
Social media
We sometimes link to our Instagram account. If you choose to message us there, your conversation and data are covered by Instagram’s own privacy policy, not ours.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- See what data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
Just email [email protected] and we’ll help.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this policy, we’ll change the “last updated” date at the top. Major changes will be clearly shown on this page.
